Dr. Stu Iglesias presents on surgical services by rural generalists

During the World Summit on Rural Generalist Medicine held in Montreal, QC this spring, BC’s Dr. Stuart Iglesias presented the collected research on the safety of general practitioners with enhanced surgical skills working in rural environments. Drawing from his own research, experience and the findings of the Applied Policy Research Unit’s review of optimal perinatal surgical services for rural women, Dr. Iglesias makes a compelling case for why low-volume procedural work for low-risk patients is a safe and effective model of surgical care for rural Canadians.
