Rural obstetrics the focus of a Globe and Mail spread: Stefan Grzybowski quoted

The closure of rural maternity wards across Canada is the focus of the Globe and Mail’s April 9th piece, “A Ward Worth Saving: Rural obstetrics units are closing and communities are fighting back.” The multi-page spread features some of CRHR’s research into outcomes for women traveling to give birth.

Our own Co-Director, Dr. Stefan Grzybowski, was asked for expert insight into the phenomenon, noting “We’ve lost a bit of the richness that existed out there in terms of understanding the importance of services to a rural community and the people who live there. Birthing services are really a key part of that.”
